We had the chance to discuss Internet Computer (IC) technology and the future of custom web applications with DFINITY as part of the DAVOS 2025 campaign.

Today, building, updating and owning a custom web application or internet service is completely out of reach for the ordinary person, and many organisations.

An individual wishing to create a sophisticated personal branding website, wedding planning application, or game to share with friends will simply find the barriers are too high. Meanwhile, a budding entrepreneur or SME wishing to create a sharing economy service with Web3 rails, must raise significant funds to hire engineers. Elsewhere, many businesses have signed up for ruinously expensive SaaS services to obtain simple things such as CRM functionality.

The issue is that such services lock in their data and make them captive customers. The DFINITY Foundation has been working to break down those barriers by driving decentralized AI and enabling greater accessibility through the adoption of Internet Computer (IC) technology.
