A head-mounted POV dive near the city seawall reveals a bizarre relic from an old seaside amusement area: an oversized water-gun shooting-gallery prop, now coated in algae, crust, and barnacles.
On the side, a small cylinder cap is fused shut by mineral buildup and packed silt. I twist it open only a few centimeters and a cloud of trapped silt rolls out as my light slips inside.
In the gap, a dull gold medallion and bracelet fragment appear—sea-aged and encrusted. When I brush one tiny edge, the flashlight catches a brief, real metallic glint.
Then, right at the end, something perfectly camouflaged on the prop suddenly twitches in the beam.
No music—only real underwater breathing, bubbles, and that last-second jolt.
