Marzieh Hamidi is a taekwondo athlete in the women's -57kg category and an IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holder. Born in Iran to Afghan refugee parents, Hamidi faced many struggles growing up. Therefore, she decided to return to her country of origin, Afghanistan, to study. However, her life changed in 2021 when the Taliban returned to power in the country, forcing her to flee. Hamidi was first evacuated to Qatar that November before settling in France the following month.
