This video follows a single thread through six films to ask who gets to certify reality and personhood, and at what cost. From Kiarostami’s Certified Copy to the labs and test-chambers of Ex Machina and The Signal, the creator-myths of Prometheus, the bureaucratic policing of replicants in Blade Runner (and 2049), and the cosmic trial of 2001: A Space Odyssey, we trace how modern cinema turns copies into tests that make (or unmake) the human. Along the way: Benjamin’s aura, Baudrillard’s simulacra, Haraway’s cyborg, and Bostrom’s continuum.
