Here’s Chris Holmes on his latest illuminating innovation: While touring with Sir Paul McCartney in Japan, I made it my mission to seek out vintage silk kimonos. On my search, I found kimonos from the 30s and 40s made with stunning, intricate geometric patterns that echoed sacred geometry.
After having a blast working on my Flashback collaboration with Betabrand, I knew I wanted to combine that retroreflective technology with my love of kimonos. And that’s how the Flashblack Kimono was born: an elegant, traditional-style kimono that comes to life with glowing geometric patterns when photographed. Perfect for formal occasions, or just hanging out around the house
