Henry James's rather brooding tale of a young man trying to get his hands on some valuable letters has some interesting parallels to Pushkin's The Queen of Spades when you look for them - both are tales of young men willing to exploit the romantic interest of a young woman in order to get hold of an older woman's arcane secret...
