Going out by request for Tiara! (Please forgive the poor quality and my sad-looking hands 😅 -- I've been cutting cabs all day!)
For practice, using cotton embroidery floss works great! I always grab it when I see it at thrift shops.
Wax your floss/cord with beeswax or chapstick or a candle, etc.
And for a needle, use a thin piece of wire -- like the six-stranded kind used to hang pictures. Just cut about 6", pull off one strand, straighten it, then fold in half to use as a needle (see video).
Get the muscle memory down with knotting before you worry about spending more on silk or linen cord.
**This video has been mirrored because I'm a natural leftie. Will upload the original left-handed version as well, so look for that if you need it! 😊
I'll also be uploading a separate video for a finishing knot (one of many types of finishing knots!). There will be more -- the kind you choose will depend on the type of pendant, bead, clasp or tassel you finish your mala with.
Thanks so much for watching!
