Forest School Curriculum - (At Honey Pot Nursery, Liverpool)

Описание: This is the first of our videos sharing good early years practice.

In this video we were delighted to visit the forest school of Honey Pot Nursery in Liverpool. They have access to a wood in South Liverpool. They use this environment for a range of learning experiences, incorporating risky play, learning about nature, and trying out a range of woodland activities.

I spoke with Fern, the Early Years Manager, and we explore the benefits of forest schools, how it helps children's communication, teamwork, and interest in their surroundings.

We also talk about the practicalities of setting up forest school sessions, their structure and their content.

We look at how to set up simple procedures and rules, such as fire circle safety. We also look at how you can introduce children to exploring the environment.

This was only the children's second visit to the forest school site, and they took part in a story session of the Gruffalo, and then hunted for characters in the woods. Then they played a range of games, and explored the woods, following their own interests and their own curiosity.
