Fletcher Jones delivers a powerful and insightful talk about education reform and equal opportunities. He shares a poem that he wrote with the goal to put an end to prejudices for people from all backgrounds.
Fletcher vulnerably recalls many experiences throughout his journey in the education system. He reveals how assumptions, both from the teacher and the student, can shape the perception of what's possible for the future.
Fletcher has committed to taking a stand to ensure all children have equal opportunities to become what they want to be. He hopes his talk inspires others who look or feel like him to say "I can do it, too".
Fletcher has been a featured artist alongside Tyler the Creator on the 2019 Grinch soundtrack and a semi-finalist in Spotlight, a California state competition. He also took 3rd place at the August Wilson Monologue Competition Regional Finals 2020 - a competition commemorating the successes of a Black Playwright. Fletcher Jones is a native of Los Angeles California who is an aspiring actor and poet. Within his talk, he will be performing an original poem to help share his message to bring people together, put an end to prejudices and increase opportunities for people from all backgrounds. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
