After giving 81 points to Liberty Hill last year, Bastrop coach Jake Griedl said if they held them under 38 they'd win. That's exactly what happened as they won 35-31 & won their 1st district title since 2009. Weston Neilsen threw 3 touchdowns, the last to Brent Carter with 37 seconds left for the win. Austin Molian's QB sack on the final play sealed it.

It was over when: Austin Molian sacked back up QB Ladanian Merino with 8 seconds left. Liberty Hill never got another snap off.

Game ball goes to: Bastrop coach Jake Griedl. He told his team after the win people thought Bastrop was a joke in recent years. No one is laughing now.

Stat of the game: 2009. That was the last time Bastrop won a district title before 2024. And the good times might just be getting started for the Bears.
