The US Army is intensifying preparations for a possible operation in Iran that could take place in the near future.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has been directed to maintain 24/7 operational readiness for the next month. The Washington Post reports this . According to sources, the Pentagon is building up forces in the region, which could pave the way for a strike on Iran within the next "2-3 weeks." The US is deploying the aircraft carriers Lincoln and Ford, activating B-2 and B-1B bombers, deploying Patriot air defense systems, and strengthening air defenses in the Persian Gulf.

At the same time, the European Aviation Safety Agency declared Iranian airspace a high-risk area. Furthermore, the US and UK are evacuating fighter jets and key equipment from regional bases in case of a possible retaliatory strike by the Islamic Republic.

As previously reported, analysts studying the White House's logic believe that US President Donald Trump's decision to temporarily postpone a possible strike on Iran was not driven by doubts, but by a balanced assessment of the political and strategic consequences.

Recall, Donald Trump has decided to temporarily postpone a strike on Iran amid a number of serious concerns. Ruth Pines-Feldman, a senior fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security, explained in detail the US President's recent steps toward Iran.

When asked whether Trump's decision to temporarily suspend preparations for a strike on Iran was driven by excessive trust in the Iranian government, fear of war, concern for US allies in the region, or whether it was experimental in nature, the expert noted that in this case, all of these explanations are true simultaneously.

"Once it became clear to Trump that this wasn't like the Venezuela operation, which could be carried out quickly, precisely, and easily, and that Iran wasn't of that scale and that a conflict with it had global implications, including for relations with China and Russia, there could be a butterfly effect here, which Trump might be willing to accept. The surrounding countries didn't want that and asked him to consider whether this was the right move at this time," Pines-Feldman emphasized.

According to her assessment, when it became clear that the strike would not lead to the immediate collapse of the regime, concerns arose about the weak defenses of the countries in the region. Pines-Feldman emphasizes that this dealt a heavy blow to the Iranian people, who were disillusioned with the United States and Trump himself.

The expert believes that Tehran's overconfidence could again make a US strike possible. Trump and his administration haven't ruled out this possibility and are actively using threatening rhetoric, promising heightened vigilance among regional countries. This could encourage Iran to commit further provocations and provoke an immediate US response.

She also emphasized that Trump's decisions could be influenced by the approaching midterm elections and his desire to avoid starting a new war after promising to end conflicts. However, she added, Americans are currently more concerned about immigration issues and events in Venezuela than the situation in Iran.

Polls show low support for Trump's foreign policy: many believe he has gone too far, disapprove of his threats against Greenland, and a third of Republican voters are critical of his actions, which could impact the midterm elections.
