When you're cutting calories, one of the biggest concerns with guys trying to build muscle is also losing muscle mass and looking skinny.
To combat against unintended loss of muscle mass, you need to slightly increase your protein intake during a cutting phase.
I would aim for the higher range to the tune of about 1.2 Grams of Protein per pound of lean body mass.
To calculate your lean body mass, take your body fat percentage and multiply that by your total weight.
Subtract your body fat weight from your total weight to get your lean body mass.
Multiply your lean body mass by 1.2 to get your ideal target protein intake while cutting total calories in a caloric deficit.
