From Dennis: Hey There Harpers! Dennis Gruenling here with my new series focusing on splits and octaves on the diatonic harmonica called “Split The Difference”. For this study piece we will be in the Key of F, playing 2nd Position on a Bb harmonica. If you don’t already use some tongue-blocking, this is going to be a good exercise (and excuse) for you to start working on this exciting tongue-blocked technique. If you are already using some tongue-blocking, this will help give you more exercises and patterns utilizing split intervals and octaves on the harp. This technique can really give our humble instrument a much bigger and fuller sound, since we will be playing 2 notes at once while using this technique.
