In the heart of the Indianapolis metro right along I-65 lies Lafayette Square Mall, Indianapolis first mall. Built by the legendary Edward J. Debartolo, this mall was shaped in his image as the crown jewel of the American shopping experience. Once featuring waterfalls, palm trees, and wood paneling galore, over the years Lafayette Square was stripped of its identity and left to rot. Crime, and the decline of retail along with poor timing leaves this mall where it is today.. A dingy discount haven of second hand stores.. Now closed for remodel, come join me today as we tour and tell the story of Lafayette Square for the last time.
