Former president of the uMkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans' Association Kebby Maphatsoe's funeral service takes place at the G.O.G. Recreational Centre in Protea Glen, Soweto this morning. He went in exile and received military training in Angola and the Soviet Union as an MK combatant.
Maphatsoe lived in Uganda for many years before he returned home.
He served as Deputy Defence and Military Veterans Minister between 2014 and 2019 and at the time of his death, was an ANC MP and a whip in the Arts and Culture study group in Parliament.
Today's short programme features jailed former President Jacob Zuma who is expected to pay tribute with ANC Chairperson Gwede Mantashe delivering the eulogy.
Maphatse will take solace in the fact that hundreds of his comrades from his MK years will be out in their numbers to give him the revolutionary send-off.
