Para los críticos decimonónicos, la escultura, tanto por la sensualidad de sus materiales como por su carácter tridimensional, era el mejor medio artístico para expresar el erotismo del desnudo femenino. En su interpretación de una iconografía cristiana de larga tradición en las artes –las tentaciones a las que el Demonio sometió a san Antonio– Borrás enfatiza las poses lujuriosas de las mujeres que ofrecen impúdicamente el atractivo de su juventud al casto monje ermitaño. Segunda medalla en la Exposición Nacional de 1901; adquirido por el Estado ese año.

The Temptations of Saint Anthony, 1901

The nineteenth century critics saw sculpture as the best artistic medium for expressing the eroticism of the female nude because of the sensuality of its materials and its three-dimensionality. In his interpretation of a Christian iconography with a long tradition in the arts, the temptations to which St Anthony was exposed by the Devil, Borrás emphasises the lascivious poses of the women who shamelessly offer their youthful attractions to the chaste hermit monk.
Second medal at the National Exhibition of 1901; acquired by the State that year.
