In the recent years, significant improvements have been made in the static gravimetric preparation of gas mixtures through the development of automatic weighing devices (robots) for weighing gas cylinders and transfer vessels. The use of these robots has not only reduced the manual labour in high-accuracy gas mixture preparation, but also improved the accuracy of weighing.
Currently a 20 kg robot is being developed to weigh 10 L cylinders, so that in the future also primary reference gas mixtures can be provided in larger volumes. The device can also handle mass standards (weights) up to 20 kg.
This short video shows the robot in action during the early stages of the test phase.
