Drift velocity is the average velocity with which free electrons get drifted in a metallic conductor under the influence of electric field.
The drift velocity is almost similar to that of terminal velocity gained by a while moving in a medium. The velocity is equal to electron mobility times electric field or current density divided by number carrier and charge on electron.
