這次我們邀請到曾獲本校 EMI TA 傑出表現的同學 Jenia Nur Soelistyoningrum 與 Tran Thi Luu Ly,分享她們在 EMI 課堂中面臨的挑戰與應對方式。
Jenia Nur Soelistyoningrum 的分享
🔹挑戰 1:文化差異
不同國家的學生有獨特的學習風格。
應對方式: 使用簡單清楚的用詞,並結合各文化熟悉的例子,提升共鳴。
🔹挑戰 2:語言能力與學習投入差異
學生之間的語言能力與投入程度不一。
應對方式: 營造安全、包容的環境,讓學生不害怕犯錯。
🔹挑戰 3:學生期待與自信心不足
學生對課堂的期待不同,且常缺乏自信。
應對方式: 建立彼此的連結,幫助學生提升自信,而不僅僅聚焦英文能力。
Tran Thi Luu Ly 的分享
🔹挑戰:學生害羞、不敢開話題或尋求幫助
應對方式: 主動聆聽,保持冷靜,放慢步調,並從學生角度思考。
🔹挑戰:TA 自身的盲點
曾以為自己很有耐心,但在教學中容易:
使用艱澀的概念
過度糾正學生
急於推進進度
應對方式: 學會換位思考,理解學生的需求,避免過度施壓。

In EMI classrooms, teaching assistants often face numerous challenges.
This time, two of our outstanding EMI TAs, Jenia Nur Soelistyoningrum and Tran Thi Luu Ly, shared their experiences and strategies for overcoming them.
Jenia Nur Soelistyoningrum’s sharing:
🔹 Challenge 1: Cultural differences
Students from different countries bring diverse learning styles.
Tackle: Use simple, clear language and connect with examples familiar to each culture to build resonance.
🔹 Challenge 2: Language ability & engagement gaps
Students vary in both language proficiency and level of participation.
Response: Create a safe, inclusive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes.
🔹 Challenge 3: Expectations & lack of confidence
Students often have different expectations and may struggle with self‑confidence.
Tackle: Focus on building connections and supporting confidence, rather than only emphasizing English ability.
Tran Thi Luu Ly’s sharing:
🔹 Challenge1: Students’ shyness
Many students hesitate to start conversations or ask for help.
Tackle: Listen actively, stay calm, slow down, and consider the student’s perspective.
🔹 Challenge2: EMI TA’s blind spots
Used overly complex concepts and wordings
Corrected students frequently
Pressed too quickly to move ahead
Tackle: Practice empathy, understand student needs, and avoid unnecessary pressure.
