4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Ed Chernoff, Defence Attorney for Conrad Murray:
"Based upon what you have seen - you've seen the coroner's report, also the toxicology report, Dr Murray's statement, you know something about the condition of Michael Jackson - can you tell us what happened on June 25th, the day that Michael Jackson died?"
5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dr Nader Kamanger, University College of Los Angeles (UCLA) sleep expert:
"Well, I think, to summarize, Mr Jackson was receiving very inappropriate therapy in the home setting, receiving very potent sedatives including propofol, midazolam and lorazepam, without appropriate monitoring and, and by Dr Murray, and ultimately this cocktail was a recipe for disaster in a patient that had underlying dehydration. And there was inappropriate access to the appropriate medical equipment, a delay in calling 911 and inappropriate resuscitation that ultimately culminated in his death."
6. Mid of Chernoff
7. SOUNDBITE: Ed Chernoff, Defence Attorney for Conrad Murray:
"Isn't what killed Michael Jackson the combination of a 2.6 level of propofol combined with a .169 level or lorazepam?"
8. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dr Nader Kamanger, University College of Los Angeles (UCLA) sleep expert:
"Well, clearly it was the combination of the propofol intoxication in addition to the lorazepam that he was on. That's correct."
9. SOUNDBITE: Ed Chernoff, Defence Attorney for Conrad Murray:
"It was the combination that killed him?"
10. SOUNDBITE: (English) Dr Nader Kamanger, University College of Los Angeles (UCLA) sleep expert:
"Right but the circumstances, there were a number of circumstances that ultimately led to this, but yes that was the direct cause."

JACKSON TRIAL CONTINUES
Experts on Thursday (13 OCT 2011) repeatedly told jurors that Michael Jackson's doctor acted with "gross negligence" throughout his treatment of the pop superstar, a theme that will likely be repeated as prosecutors on Thursday neared the end of their involuntary manslaughter case against the physician.
The defence case shifted Wednesday when an attorney for Dr Conrad Murray stunned a judge and prosecutors by saying he was abandoning the theory that Jackson swallowed the fatal dose of the anaesthetic propofol.
Murray has pleaded not guilty, and his attorneys have repeatedly told jurors they will show Jackson gave himself either the anaesthetic or the sedative lorazepam without Murray's knowledge.
Now they've determined that the effects of swallowing propofol would be "trivial."
Murray's attorneys may still argue that Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of the drugs, but two experts told jurors that Murray still went far astray from medical norms.
Murray could face up to four years behind bars and the loss of his medical license if convicted.
Murray should have never given Jackson propofol as a sleep aid, said Dr Nader Kamanger, a sleep expert who talked about Jackson's insomnia.
He also said that even if Jackson did somehow give himself the fatal dose of a drug, Murray would still be at fault, on account of Jackson's suspected substance-abuse problems.
Both Kamanger and Dr Alon Steinberg, a cardiologist, said Murray's admission that he didn't call emergency services for at least 20 minutes, and his ineffectual resuscitation efforts, left Jackson with little chance for survival.
