“Churchgoing” teen's shooting death at Scarborough Town Centre now deemed a homicide, police say

Just after 2 p.m. last Thursday afternoon, Daniel Amalathas was found unconscious in the family washroom near the food court at Scarborough Town Centre.
At first, the death was deemed suspicious. When first responders arrived, the scene was secured but the mall remained open.
Witnesses did not report hearing the sound of gunshots.
On Saturday, police said Amalathas had been murdered, but no arrests had been made.
