Ahead of his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi lauded India-Israel ties and said he looks forward to discussing global issues with his Israeli counterpart. The Prime Minister will also address the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, becoming the first Indian leader to do so. Netanyahu will host Modi for dinner at the end of the day. The visit focuses on defence, technology and trade, with Israel pitching India as a key pillar in its proposed hexagon of alliances. Discussions are expected on possible Iron Dome collaboration and fast-tracking the long-pending free trade agreement. The visit carries strategic weight and is being closely watched in the region and across the world. As far as trade ties are concerned, for the financial year 2024-2025, India exported 2.1 billion with imports of 1.6 billion, and total bilateral trade stood at 3.75 billion.
