After Takato Castle was dismantled in 1871, the local samurai transplanted these unique "Kohigan" trees from their old riding grounds to revive the site. Now, it's known as one of the Three Great Cherry Blossom spots in all of Japan.

How to Get to Takato Castle Site Park
From TOKYO (Approx. 3.5 - 4 hours)
By Train (Recommended for JR Pass holders): Take the JR Limited Express Azusa from Shinjuku Station to Chino Station. From Chino, during the Sakura season, there is a special direct bus to Takato (approx. 50 min).
Alternative: Take the Azusa to Okaya Station, transfer to the JR Iida Line for Ina-shi Station, then take a 25-minute local bus to Takato Station.
By Highway Bus: Take the express bus from Busta Shinjuku (Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal) bound for Ina/Komagane. Get off at Ina City Sales Office (Ina Bus Terminal) and transfer to the local bus for Takato (25 min).
From OSAKA (Approx. 4.5 - 5 hours)
By Train: Take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya Station. Transfer to the Limited Express Shinano and get off at Shiojiri Station. From Shiojiri, take the JR Chuo/Iida Line to Ina-shi Station. Finally, take the local bus to Takato (25 min).
By Highway Bus: There are direct highway buses from Osaka (Hankyu Sanban-gai) to the Ina Bus Terminal. From there, transfer to the local bus to Takato.
🌸 Tip for 2026: During the peak bloom (early to mid-April), shuttle buses run frequently between Takato Station and the Castle Park. It is about a 15-minute uphill walk if you prefer to go on foot and see the local town!
