Texas remains hot, dry, and windy this week with very high wildfire danger across much of the state. But there are growing signs of a pattern change that could bring rain back to Texas late next week.
In today’s Texas Weather Roundup:
• Very high fire danger across North Texas and beyond
• Gusty south winds and temperatures 10–20° warmer
• Near triple-digit heat possible in South Texas
• Multiple cold fronts with dry northerly wind shifts
• Increasing rain chances beginning mid-to-late next week
Fire danger remains elevated due to dry air, dormant fuels, and drought conditions. Please follow local burn bans and use extreme caution with welding, outdoor equipment, or anything that may spark.
The longer-range models are beginning to show a potential upper-level low forming in the Southwest U.S., which could increase rain chances across Texas starting next Wednesday and beyond. It’s still over a week away, but the signal is improving.
