A reinterpretation of I. Balenos: Overture as a jazz piece.
Directed and rearranged by Hwiman Ryu with additional New York style Jazz inspired rearrangements by pianist Mi Jung Lim.
The title "Balenos 42nd Street" was inspired by the scenery of New York Times Square in the 80s — evoking a vision of Balenos' evolution into a bustling metropolis in the far-flung future, reminiscent of Times Square's own evolution.
The jazz symphony is performed by a sextet of contrabass, drums, trumpet, saxophone, and wind instruments. Although it may be a small band, the song has all the vivacity of big band swing.
