In this video I am using Robert Fripp's "New Standard Tuning" on my guitar. This is a rather strange tuning to the unfamiliar and I have only used this once before so I had to use my ears to find all the notes I wanted, which results in sometimes hitting the ""wrong"" notes.
.
New standard tuning involves tuning the guitar strings (low to high) to: CGDAEG which is stacked fifths and a minor third on top. Fripp's original goal was to create a tuning that is all fifths, which would be more similar to a cello and would keep shapes for various structures the same when moving from string to string. However, this causes massively uneven string tension across the guitar and resulted in the highest string (which would be tuned to a high B note) often breaking. He settled on tuning this string to a G instead. I have achieved this alternate tuning by using a Roland guitar synthesizer and divided pickup which allows me to digitally retune the signal from each string while keeping the guitar in standard tuning (and maintain uniform tension across the strings).

Guitar used: Harley Benton Fusion III HSH Roasted

Synth used: Roland GR-55 with GK-3 divided pickup
.
Strings used: D'addario NYXL 10-46 Balanced Tension
