Update: I am NOT and IR pilot and dont fly IFR. I originally referred to Schiphol runway 22 lights as MIALS based on 2006 Jeppesen charts, which i found online.

Today, the system is classified as regular HIALS, though the lights themselves dont appear to have changed. It is likely a reclassification.

Besides, it is very easy to confuse runway 22, 27 and 24 without knowledge about the runway-systems. The remaining 5 runways still use HIALS-II, and have a much more complex lightning system, such as red bars and flashing lights.

Today we flew to one of Europe's busiest airports: Amsterdam Airport schiphol. Landing VFR into schiphol is ultra rare, hence our reaction.
