Millions of years ago, Mars had liquid water on its surface and just like Earth, Mars was a Blue Planet too. It was covered with oceans on its surface with liquid water and it may even had some kind of life back millions of years ago. So, what happened to Mars then? Where did all of its water gone? How Mars became a red planet? The main problem is its cooling core. It creates all sort of problems to a planet. Watch this video to know how Mars lost its water and became an inhabitable and deserted red planet.

Astronomers had been looking at Mars for centuries. Mars got its name due to its red color appearance. It resembles a Greek God of War. So they name it Mars. Mars is located at the outer edge of the Sun's Habitable zone, where liquid water can exist theoretically. But Mars doesn't actually have any liquid water on its surface. Why? Mars had liquid water on its surface in the past. What happened to the water? The reason is its core. Earth's core is very hot(almost as hot as the surface of Sun). This cause the outer core to be in molten form. This liquid is continuously moving and this movement is generating a Magnetic Field around Earth. This magnetic field protects Earth and everything in Earth from the very harmful radiations of Sun and from the Outer Space. This helps Earth to maintain a very thick atmosphere. This atmosphere have enough pressure to hold water on Earth's surface in the form of liquid. But Mars core is cooling down rapidly. This cooling down causes the magnetic field to be very weak. When the magnetic field is weak, the radiations from the sun and from the outer space will directly hit the atmosphere and will slowly erodes away the atmosphere. When atmosphere is thinned down, the the pressure will drop too low. This cause the surface water to freeze and evaporates directly without converting into liquid form first(sublimation). This water vapor then stay in the atmosphere for a while and the will eventually disintegrates to the outer space. This is hoe Mars lost its liquid water.
