To be honest, this series wasn’t as enjoyable as I expected.
I’m not talking about the story—the story was actually really good. It was well-crafted and clearly showed respect to the previous title.
However, from a speedrunning perspective, especially regarding boss rush, I was left with a lot of disappointment.
The game added a variety of items and allowed for a broader range of build experimentation, which is definitely a positive.
But the weakness of the Last Rite mechanic ended up making the game’s meta feel overly simplified.
In my estimation, a record in the low 3-minute range—maybe as fast as 3:20—could be possible.
But right now, I just don’t feel motivated to push for it.
If another standout player appears and takes up the challenge, then maybe I’ll be inspired to give it another serious go.
