The opening of the 2019 Braemar Gathering in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on Saturday 7th September 2019. Martin Johnston of the Lonach Pipe Band, Official Piper to the Braemar Royal Highland Society, leads the Society members with their standard into the Games field playing the tune 'Braemar Gathering'. The flags are then raised and a speech given by the President of the Society, David Geddes.
The Braemar Gathering, is always held on the first Saturday in September in The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Braemar and has been run in its present form since 1832. Since 1848, The Gathering has been attended regularly by the reigning Monarch and members of the Royal Family.
