Custom watches commemorating the first man in outer space and the first space artist, Alexei Leonov, were taken on Spaceflight 2022 aboard Soyuz MS-21 by Expedition 67 commander, cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev.
The watch was used during work aboard the International Space Station and was also worn during two of the five spacewalks performed by cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev.
The watch and patches used during the EVAs depict A. Leonov’s artwork “Over the Planet.” The first sketches of this artwork were created by the Soviet cosmonaut shortly before his historic spacewalk from Voskhod-2 on 18 March 1965. This Artwork is a representation of how A. Leonov imagined himself during his upcoming spacewalk.
