Jorge is an important force in New York City’s punk, ska, Oi!, and hardcore scenes. As a promoter, organizer, and supporter of underground events, he has helped build strong community ties and foster unity in both the Colombian and NYC scenes.
He is the founder of Authentic Productions NYC, a project dedicated to producing and supporting punk and Oi! shows in New York City. In our conversation, Jorge shares his first introduction to music in Colombia and how subcultures manifest there, highlighting both similarities and differences with other places. He talks about moving to NYC and finding his place in the scene, the founding of Authentic Productions NYC, and the shows and bands he has had the opportunity to bring to the U.S. through his productions, and the community he is building at his scene.
