Bellaire police find 76-year-old wedding ring allegedly stolen by wanted home healthcare worker

A home healthcare worker is wanted and accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from a Bellaire couple in their late 90s who he was hired to care for.
Walter Portillo, 40, has been charged with theft and is wanted. Police believe there could be additional victims.
Portillo had been working at the couple’s home since late July, according to court records, and sometimes worked late-night or overnight shifts.
“No one would be aware of what’s happening when you’re asleep,” Det. Emily Aguirre said.
