Описание: Quebec has introduced Bill 9, reinforcing secularism by expanding restrictions on religious expression in public institutions. The bill prohibits public prayer in streets and parks without municipal authorization, phases out public funding for private religious schools unless they adhere to secular rules (no religious teaching, no religious symbols for staff, and no segregation by faith), and requires public institutions to offer non-religious alternatives to religiously exclusive menus like kosher or halal. It also mandates uncovered faces within the education system. Prayer rooms in CEGEPs and universities will be dismantled by 2026. While Christmas celebrations are permitted, emphasis on religious aspects is discouraged. The CAQ government will invoke the notwithstanding clause to shield the bill from legal challenges.
