What to do in La Gomera? Hippies, beaches, hiking trail to Valle Gran Rey

Valle Gran Rey – means "Valley of the great king", and it is a perfect place for alternative vacationers, hikers, nature lovers and independent travelers. When I was looking for some fun facts about it, a blunt opinion caught my eye. "Hippies, Germans, and Locals that hate them both....” What a Brief description of social relations prevailing in the valley.
Lower part of the valley is the popular tourist destination in La Gomera. Here are the most scenic natural beaches in the entire island.
Today I’m also taking you to another place inhabited by hippies- secluded beach at the end of the “old” world where you can only get by foot or by boat. Picture naked hippies, beautiful people, a wonderful atmosphere in this care-free place where people come to live in caves or camp out in tents, and many return year after year.

This episode is not only about beaches. Not to be mono-thematic we will also go ashore to hike stunning trek in the mountains towards Valle Gran Rey. The hiking trail starts at the point called Mirador de El Santo and it is marked by the impressive stone structure. The trail is not very technical and challenging, so you can easily give it a try. The views over the steep mountains and the valley fading into the ocean are mind blowing.
