River Street is a shopping street and promenade in Savannah, Georgia, USA. It runs for two miles (3.2 kilometers) along the southern edge of the Savannah River, from the intersection of North and East Lathrop Avenues in the west to East Bay Street in the east. Its most well-known section runs from the Talmadge Memorial Bridge to its eastern terminus, then beneath City Hall and Yamacraw Bluff. It is West River Street all the way up to the Hyatt Regency Savannah. It becomes East River Street around 40 feet (12 meters) below Bay Street. From Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, the street is one-way (westbound).
East River Street is now a major tourist attraction in the city, with many restaurants, cafés, and craft shops. The John P. Rousakis Riverfront Plaza, a half-mile-long pedestrian promenade, is named after Savannah's longest-serving mayor (1970–1992).
