Philo Brathwaite was the special guest at # 8 Disc Golf Italia Open October 28 to 30, 2016 at the breathtaking panoramic Tuscany course of “Accademia DGI”. Accepting the invitation from the Italian Ambassador of disc olf in Italy and Founder of A.S.D. Disc Golf Italia, Renita Cameron, (photo attached) who has developed a project to help the promotion of "Grow The Sport" in southern European countries such as Italy, Croatia and Spain etc. during the period from October 2016 to November 2017.
During his visit to Pistoia, Philo Brathwaith and DGI made a surprise visit to Pistoia’s Mayor Samuel Bertinelli for a disc golf challenge in the Piazza del Duomo in Pistoia, along with other PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) players from USA, France, Israel, Canada, Italy and the UK arrived to attend the event. Philo’s “Albatross” has left everyone stunned in Estacada, Oregon (United States) and the rest of the world when they received success for the in the international media (CNN, ESPN, TWITTER, etc.) and recognized for the first time worldwide from our big brother PGA (Professional Golf Association). l Philo Brathwaite has managed to hole out with his golf disc (frisbee type) from a stellar distance of 850 feet, approximately 260 meters. The difficult performance, which took place during the event Beaver State Fling 2016 (USA) and posted du YouTube from Central Coast disc Golf, is made even more amazing because the disc had to literally sail around a forest of tall trees before finishing the hole among the many fans and flocked applause. Apart from his participation in the tournament, Philo Brathwaith gave free lessons "TeamPhilo Disc Golf Clinic" to the Pistoia general public present in Piazza del Duomo and at the Accademia DGI (Spazzavento-Pistoia), the only official course and center for disc golf in Italy. Disc Golf Italia has a wide range of events planned for the year 2017 that include free lessons in schools, training of instructors and teachers, free public demonstrations, international tournaments in all major cities of Italy; i.e 'FDGO (Florence Disc Golf Open ) Cascine Park of Florence, Golf & Disc Golf Scramble “Ponte Vecchio” Feb. 2017, DGIO 2017 “Montecatini Golf Club” Aprile 2017, “Stumptown European Challenge” August 2017 – Abetone Ski Resort (Pistoia), such as the annual Pistoia & Florence Urban Disc Golf Itinerary 2017 or the first "2017 Golf & Disc Golf Scramble Invitational Tour" along with various traditional Ball Golf course in Italy (including “Tenuta Lamborghin Golf” – requested participation) with celebrities from the PGA and the PDGA International.
