Movement is one of the most powerful tools for quality longevity, yet 31% of adults and 80% of adolescents don’t meet the minimum recommended levels of physical activity, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). I imagine many of you have had the same conversation with your doctor that I’ve had with mine.
(doctor) “You need to move more.”
(me) “I know, but it’s hard to find time.”
The truth is, we all have the same 24 hours in a day. Facts and figures matter, but they rarely motivate us to get off the sofa. Real change starts with a personal connection, something that matters enough to act on, even on our most difficult days. We each have varying responsibilities, individual situations, and limits. I’d like to share a story about the moment I began to prioritize physical activity.
