‘Papa, I will not survive’, is all Balrampur woman who was ‘gang raped’ could say before she died

Another alleged gang rape was reported from Uttar Pradesh where a 22-year-old woman was assaulted by two people—Shahid and a juvenile -- on 29 September in Gesadi village of Balrampur. According to the FIR, registered on the basis of her family’s complaint, the woman returned home on a rickshaw in a semi-conscious state, after being missing for the whole day. She complained of uneasiness and stomach pain a few hours later, but even as her family was taking her to a hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. Police claim the adult suspect has denied the allegations against them -- abduction, rape, and murder. Police in Uttar Pradesh say they are investigating the case, and trying to piece together what exactly happened.
