During the Reet Smoot Senate Hearings that took place from 1904 to 1907, Mormon prophet Joseph F. Smith was interrogated for 3 days on matters such as polygamy, oaths of vengeance taken in the temple against the U.S. Governement for the deaths of Joseph and Hyrum Smith, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and other issues. During his interrogation, Smith said that he only receives inspiration, not revelation.
