Part 4 | Long EV Road Trip Back to Hyderabad ⚡ VinFast VF7 Electric SUV, Performance, Range, Cost??

So, the first part of our 1780 kms long EV road trip, covering the 550kms stretch from Hyderabad to Kolhapur is here. The very first day with our Vinfast VF7 brought many challenges like sudden power cuts, unavailable charging stations, under-construction roads along the stations, numerous charging apps, waiting time and issue connecting the charging gun.

The road from Mahabaleshwar to Panchgani was very rough.

Electric Charger availability on this route is quite good. you can easily track them on EV Charging applications: Static, plug share, eHUB by MG, JIO-BP Pulse, Nikole EV, Chargezone or by simply searching on google with: "Electric car charging stations near me".

Problems faced on Day 9-

This time there was no power outage near the Omerga distric near Punjabi Dhami and all the chargers where working. I planned the trip so as to reach there during lunch hours, and while the car was plugged, we had lunch.


Key points to consider:

1-Don't overspeed, if you don't have to. Power drains like crazy!
2-Add multiple stops along the routes for electric car charging stations. you can't rely on just one, got to have backups of backups.
3-Have snacks and water always, many EV charging stations don't have shops nearby.
4- Check with the hotel beforehand if they have a power plug to charge the car in parking. We did this and it saved a lot of time and money.

When it comes to VF7, the car feels like luxury, sturdy and safe to drive. I am not happy with the range it is giving as of now. But I hope with time as the system calibrates, it will improve.
