Synopsis - Set in 13th-century central Europe, a young boy joins the Teutonic Knights. Years later, he leaves the Crusaders, pursued by a fanatical comrade. He faces repercussions for rejecting the Holy Order.


I’m gonna keep this short and to the point - this movie rules. It has all the elements that make a great flick - revenge, incest, betrayal, and existential musings, all shot in gorgeous black & white scope.

I had originally been planning on re-doing my trailer for Marketa Lazarova, however when I came across this other Vlácil film released by the folks at Second Run, I found that I liked this film so much better. Here’s hoping more of his work gets released, and more people discover his films. —DM
