I did not understand the history of Jordan until I asked a friend for more information. Jordan's history became clearer when she explained the rulers or Caliphs.
Without travel being currently available to us, I still wanted to explore more history of Jordan.
Jordan became an independent state officially in 1946, known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan. In 1949 it was renamed the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan following the country captured the West Bank during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. This annexed land was then lost to Occupied Palestine (Israel) in 1967.
Jordanians share a common Levantine Semitic ancestry. Approx. 98% percent of Jordanians are Arabs. The remaining 2% are other ethnic minorities. Jordans poopulation is approx. 10 million with around 2.9 million were non-citizens. Around 30% of Jordanians are Palestinian refugees and 10% are Syrian refugees.
