In this video, I'm changing out the stock 3.73 gears to a 4.56 gear set. I used East Coast Gear supply and swapped out the entire clamshell (front)/ and third member (rear).
This is part 1 of the gear swap, focusing on the rear. Part 2 will show you how to change out the front gear set.
This job isn't overly difficult it just requires a lot of tools and time if you want to do it on your own in your driveway.
Overall, the change of the front and rear gears has made the car a lot smoother when accelerating. It doesn't seem to be as harsh when trying to get up to speed (revving to much higher RPMs than necessary). This job would be beneficial if you added a lot of weight to your truck and went with a much larger tire than stock.
