China Off the Beaten Path - In this travelogue we visit the 1600 year old Maijishan Buddhist Grottoes and the city of Tianshui in Gansu Province, China. The grottoes are one of the four famous buddhist grottoes in China along with the Mogao grottoes near Dunhuang, the Longmen grottoes near Luoyang and the Yungang grottoes near Datong. After the grottoes we visit the city of Tianshui, a little visited city with a lot of character, surrounded by mountains.
