Attempting both options in a questions

Greetings!
There has always been a confusion whether the student should attempt both the options in a questions or not. Here you will find the clarity.
If a student attempts both alternatives, it is known as EXTRA ATTEMPT. It is always up to the checker whether he/she wants to check extra attempt, compare the marks and then to give highest marks. To do this, the checker has to cancel the marks already given for the first attempt and re-enter the highest marks. But in digital checking, it will become quite lengthy process as the teacher will have to remove the ANNOTATIONS (marks and ticks/crosses marked), put N.A. (Not Attempted Annotation in the marks section), give new marks and put REPEATED ATTEMPT on the second alternative part. I believe, hardly any teacher will take such a pain. So, better confine to the best alternative only.
