1. Be careful about getting any soil that is going into your garden. Friends can unwittingly give you clubroot .
2. Rotate your crops.
3 Raise your ph ( making it more alkaline ) with lime as Arran soil is very acid and clubroot favours acid soil.
4 Try and not let soil get too wet.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET CLUBROOT

1. ADD MORE LIME
2. AVOID Brassica family for some time
3. Grow Brassica resistant seeds or buy brassica resistant plants.
4. Grow seeds in bought sterile compost and grow to plants fairly large before planting out in your outside bed . Make a deep hole and sprinkle lime in this hole and then put sterile compost in hole before planting . This gives a sterile limed cushion which will hopefully reduce risk of clubroot.
5. You must take care not to transfer affected soli around garden and this means changing gloves and sterilising tools and wheelbarrow etc with solution of Jeyes fluid.
6. You must not compost affected plants. You can eat plant but must remove and burn roots which are highly infected.
