Florida businesses that must collect and pay certain types of Florida taxes need to register with the Florida Department of Revenue (DOR).
The Florida Form DR-1 is a consolidated business tax application that can be filed to apply for various types of tax registrations. The two most common registrations are the Florida Reemployment Tax and the Florida Sales and Use Tax.
In this example, we look at a new Florida business that needs to file Form DR-1 to apply for Reemployment Tax and Sales and Use Tax. Once the application is approved, Florida will issue a Florida Resale Certificate (Form DR-13) and a Florida Certificate of Registration (Form DR-11). The company will also be assigned a Reemployement Tax (RT) number which is used to complete the reemployment tax returns.
