Atlas Mountain Adventure - Part 1 - Marrakesh to the Telouet Kasbah (Morocco)

Описание: My wife wanted some winter sunshine and there were some great offers on all-inclusive breaks to Marrakesh (Morocco). Enjoying the luxurious hotel, eating and drinking all day long was wonderful for a day or two, but knowing the Atlas Mountains were nearby we opted to trade a day of opulent luxury for an early start and a bumpy ride in a 4 x 4 over crumbling mountain roads to get a close up view of the awesome Atlas Mountains. We left Marrakesh in darkness, after an hour or two the sun finally started to light the sky as we enjoyed a welcome coffee at “Café restaurant tizi ait barka”, the start of this video.
Our route takes us over the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass between the great Marrakech Plains and the city of Ouarzazat. It reaches an elevation of 2,260 metres (7,415 ft) above the sea level, and is the highest major mountain pass in North Africa. The road was constructed along the old caravan trail by the French military in 1936 and is now part of National Route 9.
This video should really carry a warning, advising British Healthy and Safety officials not to watch it. The road is undergoing major repairs and improvements resulting in road traffic weaving around contractor’s vehicles, switching between new and old sections along temporary dirt tracks in a manor this may cause the odd raised eyebrow. As the road climbs higher the scenery becomes ever more spectacular. In this video we leave the main N9 road shortly after the summit at Tizi n'Tichka to take the P1506 local road to Telouet where we visit the Telouet Kasbah.
