FUN FACTS: Like a lot of singers, when I first heard this song, I liked it, but didn’t know if it was a song for me. I’d always loved Chris Eaton’s voice and his demo of this song I wish you could hear, he did so many cool vocal hings that I now wish I had listened harder to and copied, hindsight. Chris is such an incredible singer/songwriter. Anyway, the record label stressed to me that this was a HIT song and after listening over and over, I fell in love with it too. And the song did go #1 on the CHR charts and stayed there a few weeks. Charlie Peacock did an amazing job with the production. The only thing that threw me for a loop was singing in octaves and deciding which part to sing during a live performance, the high was too high and the low was too low in the beginning verses.. but genius Charlie came up with that idea, which was super cool! Needless to say, I sang the low part in concert.
And I love how this song comes straight from scripture.
